Understanding Independent Medical Exams
Insurance companies often look for reasons to limit or deny coverage of your medical bills. One strategy they employ is the Independent Medical Exam (IME).
Here's what you must know:
- Expect an IME Request: After receiving treatment, the insurance company will request you visit their selected doctor for an examination to verify your injuries.
- Attend Scheduled Appointments: Missing an IME appointment can result in the insurance company denying your claims retroactively to the accident date. It's critical to attend these exams.
- Rescheduling is Possible but Limited: If you can’t attend, contact The Fastman Law Group immediately. We can help reschedule, but missing a second appointment is risky.
IMEs are designed to minimize the insurer’s liability. Having The Fastman Law Group by your side ensures your rights remain protected.
